Why You Should Not Ghost Event Suppliers
Ghost Event Suppliers Why You Should Not
Why You Should Not Ghost Event Suppliers Have you inadvertently forgotten to reply to an event supplier after reaching out for information or a quotation? Ghosting suppliers is a common practice but it’s important to understand the negative consequences.
I want to be honest;
Many of my colleagues in the disco industry have recently shared experiences of being ghosted.
I’d like to gently remind everyone Why You Should Not Ghost Event Suppliers :
If you contact suppliers or venues, please let them know your decision, whether yes, no, or undecided. It’s a sign of respect and courtesy during your event planning.
Remember, the suppliers you’re contacting
are often small businesses for whom every client counts. The start of 2024 has been challenging for many in our field, and we’re all feeling the the cost of living and rising expenses. It’s vital for these entrepreneurs to be able to forecast their earnings accurately. It’s more than just courtesy; it’s essential for their sustainability—I can’t emphasize this enough.
You Should not ghost event suppliers If you’ve recently asked for a quote
from any event service provider, please extend them the courtesy of a response once they get back to you. A simple acknowledgment like ‘Thank you, but we’ve decided to go in a different direction,’ or ‘Your work is wonderful, but unfortunately, it’s out of our budget at the moment,’ goes a long way. They will completely understand, I promise you.
Also, bear in mind
that if another client is ready to book on the spot, a supplier may not be able to hold your date indefinitely for weddings, birthdays, retro disco nights.
It’s OK to say ‘No, thank you,’ but it’s really not OK to ghost event suppliers. Let’s practice kindness and empathy towards the dedicated network of small, creative businesses in the events industry. No more ghosting, please!
