Norfolk’s Only Trading Standards Approved DJ · Rated 4.9 out of 5 from more than 250 reviews
The Diss Mercury featured Tinsel Tim, professional DJ Tim Daymond of Mobile Disco Network, in September 2024. The paper serves south Norfolk and north Suffolk, two areas at the heart of Tim’s patch. The story ran under the headline “Norfolk DJ Tinsel Tim Still Going After 48 Years of Tunes”.
This was the first time the Diss Mercury had featured Tim in its editorial pages. The article focuses on professional standards, Trading Standards recognition and nearly five decades of unbroken DJ work.
Why the Diss Mercury Coverage Matters
The Diss Mercury is an editorially independent regional newspaper. It serves south Norfolk and the north Suffolk border, including Diss, Harleston and the surrounding villages. So its coverage carries weight in that cross-border market.
South Norfolk and north Suffolk are a distinct audience. Furthermore, the paper’s readers often search locally for trusted service providers.
What the Article Covers
The Diss Mercury profile covers Tim’s career and credentials in detail.
48 Years of Unbroken DJ Work
Tim started performing in 1976, and he has played every booking personally ever since. He has never cancelled a contracted event. He has even performed with bronchitis and a temperature of 103.
South Norfolk and Suffolk Connections
Tim performs regularly across south Norfolk and into Suffolk. He told the paper that people across the region know the Tinsel Show. It is a following built over decades, not years.
Norfolk’s First Trading Standards Trusted Trader DJ
In 2024, Tim became the first mobile DJ in Norfolk to gain Trading Standards Trusted Trader status. He holds it under Norfolk County Council Trusted Trader ID 0000457. He told the paper he believes the scheme helps people book DJs with confidence. See what being Trading Standards Approved means for your booking.
Innovation Across Five Decades
Tim began with 200 vinyl records. Now the Tinsel Show uses QR code requests and livestreaming. He told the paper he aims to create something different, unique and fresh at every event.
Tim Daymond in His Own Words
“I believe it is essential for the mobile DJ industry to have a system in place that ensures consumers can book DJs with confidence. Trusted Trader status does exactly that.”
