Every couple asks the same question early on: how much should a wedding DJ cost? So this wedding DJ cost guide answers it plainly, with real figures and no sales talk.
I’m Tim Daymond, and I’ve been a DJ since 1976. Below, I explain what changes the price, what a fair quote includes, and what my own packages cost.
Wedding DJ Cost Guide: The Four Price Levels
Prices across East Anglia weddings usually fall into four bands. However, each band suits a different kind of celebration, so read them all.
- Starter, £250 to £500: This suits small, informal parties, so ask about insurance and safety paperwork first.
- Mid-range, £500 to £850: Here you’ll find experienced mobile DJs, although planning support varies considerably.
- Professional, £850 to £1,400: At this level, quality becomes consistent, with full paperwork and a named DJ.
- Premium, £1,400 and above: This usually means all-day cover, additional extras and decades of wedding experience.
In short, this wedding DJ cost guide treats the professional band as the sensible benchmark for most couples.
Wedding DJ Cost Guide: What Changes the Price
Two couples can receive very different quotes for the same venue. So this part of my wedding DJ cost guide explains why wedding DJ prices move.
- Date and season: Peak season dates, such as summer Saturdays, cost more than winter weekdays.
- Hours: Also, an evening disco costs less than cover from ceremony to last song.
- Room size: Larger rooms need more powerful sound, so wedding DJ prices rise accordingly.
- Extras: Similarly, a photo booth, uplighting or a game show adds to the total.
- Travel: Many DJs charge extra beyond a set distance. I include travel across all four counties.
Therefore, always compare like with like, because a low price often leaves out hours or extras you’ll want later.
Wedding DJ Cost Guide: What a Fair Quote Includes
First, use this DJ quote checklist before you sign anything. Then, if something is missing, simply ask why.
- Sound and lighting that suit your room size
- Public liability insurance and PAT-tested equipment
- A music planning meeting or online playlist planner
- Radio microphones for speeches
- Set-up and pack-down time
- The name of the DJ who will play your wedding
Keep the DJ quote checklist handy when comparing suppliers. After all, many venues ask for insurance and PAT paperwork before set-up. That’s why my certificates wait for you in your client portal. I’m also Trading Standards Approved, so you can check my standards independently.
My Wedding Packages and Prices
Here are my published packages for East Anglia weddings. In other words, the price you see is exactly the price you pay.

| Evening + Selfie Pod | From £1,150 | Evening package plus the vintage selfie pod with instant sharing |
| All Day | From £1,250 | Up to nine hours, from ceremony to last song |
| Premium All Day | From £1,450 | All day package plus the selfie pod |
| Ultimate Showstopper | £1,950 | All day, selfie pod all day and a round of Boogie Bingo |
Also, every package includes your playlist planner, radio microphones and full insurance. Monthly payment plans are also available, because a wedding DJ cost guide should help you budget comfortably. For full details, see my wedding packages page.

What a Photo Booth Adds to the Cost
A photo booth is one of the most popular wedding extras. As a result, couples often ask about the photo booth cost separately.
For example, the Evening + Selfie Pod package costs £400 more than the Evening package. So the photo booth cost is clear from the start. Every photo is digital, therefore guests can share their pictures immediately.

Simple Ways to Save on Your Wedding DJ
A good DJ doesn’t have to stretch your wedding entertainment budget. Instead, try these simple ideas from my wedding DJ cost guide.
- Choose a Friday, Sunday or winter date instead of avoiding peak season dates altogether.
- Alternatively, book evening cover only and use a playlist during the meal.
- Also, spread the cost with a monthly payment plan.
- Ask for discounted extras after booking rather than at the quote stage.
