Tim Daymond, Tinsel Tim

Hiring a silver anniversary party DJ starts with one question: what year did you marry? If it was 2001, then Beautiful Day, Angels and Whole Again were playing at every reception. I’m Tim Daymond, known on stage as Tinsel Tim. I played those songs at East Anglia weddings that year.

So in 2026, I can take you straight back. Below, I explain how I plan the music, how a vow renewal works, and which venues suit the occasion.

Why a Silver Anniversary Party DJ Plans Differently

A 25th wedding anniversary is the first major milestone of a marriage. It celebrates where you started and how far you’ve come together.

Your guest list is unusual, too. Friends from your 2001 wedding sit beside children who weren’t even born when you made your vows. Therefore, the music has to bring every generation onto the same dance floor.

I’ve played many silver anniversary celebrations across East Anglia. Every time, something changes when the wedding year music begins. The original guests stop talking, look at the couple and remember.

Three Ways to Plan Your Silver Anniversary Music

There’s no single right approach. Instead, the best choice depends on your venue, your guests and the feeling you want.

The 2001 Nostalgic Set

First, I open with the songs from your wedding year. Then I move forward through 2002, 2003 and beyond, chart by chart. For your original guests, it feels like an emotional time machine.

Song Artist Why it works
Beautiful Day U2 A soaring opener every guest remembers
Angels Robbie Williams The big singalong
Whole Again Atomic Kitten Pure 2001 nostalgia
Hanging by a Moment Lifehouse A romantic favourite from that year
Fill Me In Craig David Gets the dancers moving
Pure and Simple Hear’Say A pop moment for everyone
5,6,7,8 Steps The dance routine nobody forgets

The 25-Year Journey

This works brilliantly for mixed-age parties. Each era of your marriage gets its own spell on the dance floor.

  • The early years: Complicated, Hey Ya, Mr Brightside and Gold Digger.
  • The middle years: Umbrella, Rolling in the Deep, Happy and Get Lucky.
  • Recent years: Uptown Funk, Blinding Lights, As It Was and Anti-Hero.

The Elegant Gala

A black-tie dinner needs a more refined approach. For example, guests arrive to Fly Me to the Moon and Come Away With Me. Later, timeless classics take over, such as Dancing Queen, September, Don’t Stop Me Now and Let’s Dance.

Should You Recreate Your First Dance?

Yes, without hesitation. In fact, it’s often the most moving moment of a 25th wedding anniversary party.

The couple take to the floor, and guests naturally form a circle. Then, within the first few bars, the room falls quiet. Simply tell me your song when you book. I’ll find the exact version you danced to in 2001, as closely as possible.

Tim’s tip: Plan this dance halfway through the evening, when every guest is in the room. Then follow it with a big floor filler to lift the mood again.

Planning a Vow Renewal With Your Silver Anniversary Party DJ

Vow renewals are becoming increasingly popular at 25 years. After all, you now know exactly what you’re promising.

I cover the ceremony and the party in one booking. First comes the processional, perhaps your original wedding music. Next, gentle music plays during the readings. Finally, a joyful recessional leads everybody into the celebration. Because I plan both parts together, the evening flows smoothly from one to the other.

So if you’re considering a vow renewal ceremony, mention it in your first message. It also helps to plan timings with my free Party Planning Timeline.
